Caffe Stop is open in Eastgate Carpark with outside seating, a slightly different interior layout and menu. All day breakfast, sandwiches, paninis, cakes, and afternoon teas. The Sun Inn - Westgate, Pickering - a short 5 minute stroll from Hungate. Will open from August 4th. This is a proper real ale freehouse, no food is served but you are welcome to bring a picnic or fish and chips and enjoy in the large beer garden, or garden room.
Cedar Barn Farm Shop - (on the outskirts of Pickering on the road to Scarborough) open Weds, Thurs, Fri, Sat 10am - 4pm - 'Graze in the Garden' Cafe Open for takeaway, or to enjoy on the terrace or lawn 9.30am - 2.30pm Breakfast served until 11.45am.

The Found & Hounds, Sinnington (a 10 minute drive from Hungate) - we love this traditional pub for delicous food and a lovey atmosphere. The Fox & Rabbit, Lockton, just off the Whitby Road A169 (20 minute drive from Hungate) - open daily, ring 01751 460213 to book a table. Serving Sunday lunch and a traditional menu.
The Horseshoe Inn, Levisham (sister pub to The Fox & Rabbit above!) will open daily from July 15th. We love the peaceful location of this pub, set at the far end of Levisham village, with outside seating on the grass in front. Named one of Britain's 30 Cosiest Pubs by the Telepgraph. Serving a traditional pub menu and local beer.

Local Attractions Currently Open - Updated July 9th
North Yorkshire Moors Railway will open with a limited timetable, from August 1st. Pre-booking required. See their website for details.
Dalby Forest (walks and cycling) is open with some limited facilites (see their website for details) - Hungate guests receive a free multi-entry car pass to visit as many times as they wish during their stay. The visitor centre, cafe and bicycle hire remain closed for now (all working on re-opening soon) and no BBQs permitted on site at present as North York Moors is currently on high fire alert due to dry weather.
Go Ape Treetop Adventure and Forest Segway Adventures at Dalby Forest are now taking bookings online. See the Go Ape website for details.
Ryedale Folk Museum - will open from July 4th (Saturday - Tuesday only for the first 2 weeks) - Hungate guests receive free entry, and no need to pre-book your visit. This museum is mostly open air and a lovely way to spend a day. Located in the beautiful village of Hutton-le-Hole on the edge of the Moors, 15 minute drive from Hungate.
Castle Howard grounds, gardens, garden centre and farm shop are open daily. For the grounds and gardens, tickets must be pre-booked online. Skelf Island Adventure Playground will open from Saturday July 4th, with a one way system and distancing measures in place. The house, and cafe remain closed for the time being. FlamingoLand Theme Park and Zoo is now open with limited pre-booked tickets available on their website. Takeaway food is also available to visitors but some rides and facilities will be limited, and extra safety measures in place.
Sutton Bank walking / cycling / beautiful views (30 minute drive from Hungate). Cycle Hire is still closed for now, but the information centre and gift shop is open 10am - 3pm. The cafe is open for takeaway coffee and snacks. This is a beautiful spot, known as one of the "finest views in England" - and also home to the Yorkshire Gliding Club. Many trails to explore on foot, and a selection of cycle trails for all levels and abilities. The visitor centre can provide maps.
York Minster will open for sightseeing visits from Saturday July 11th. Pre-book an arrival slot on yorkminster.org
Sledmere House grounds, gardens and rare breed farm park are open Tuesday-Sunday (closed Monday). Half day tickets must be pre-booked online.
Riveaulx Abbey opening from beginning of August. Riveaulx Terrace is currently closed.
Beningbrough Hall - carpark, gardens and parkland is now open. Please book tickets in advance on their website - tickets are released every Friday. National Trust Members can book for free, non-members will need to pay when booking.
Pickering Castle & Scarborough Castle will open from July 4th. Book your timed tickets in advance on their website. English Heritage members can book for free, non-members will need to pay when booking.
Helmsley Castle plans to open from August.
English Heritage are opening more sites in July and looking to have them all open by August.
National Trust starting to reopen sites from 3rd June, with more opening throughout June and July. Tickets will need to be purchased in advance.
National Centre for Birds of Prey at Duncombe Park Nature Reserve - Helmsley - open 7 days a week, no need to pre book your tickets. It's a really lovely day out to combine with a visit to Helmsley. Explore 40 aviaries and enjoy multiple flying demos during the day. Admission to the centre also gives entry to the 300 acres of parkland and 2 marked walking trails which around the grounds of Duncombe Park, great for dog walking.
Sewerby Hall Gardens - the house, zoo, gardens and play area is now open. - Pre-book your tickets on their website.
