ACCESS STATEMENT FOR SALTERSGATE COTTAGE, PICKERING, NORTH YORKSHIRE
INTRODUCTION
We aim to accommodate the needs of all our guests at Hungate Cottages.
This is a summary of the facilities at Saltersgate Cottage which is a two storey building. The decor throughout is neutral and all rooms are well lit through natural light and good electric lighting. PRE-ARRIVAL
Hungate Cottages are located in the market town of Pickering – gateway to the North York Moors National Park in North Yorkshire. We are ideally situated for the North Yorkshire Moors, York and the east coast resorts of Whitby and Scarborough. ARRIVAL AND CAR PARKING FACILITIES
Saltersgate Cottage is located in a garden setting along with our other cottages. Parking is on a level, gravel parking area. There is a paved footpath from the parking area to the cottage.
MAIN ENTRANCE
The property is accessed from a paved pathway which brings you to the main door. The doorway is 73cm wide and up two steps, the first 20cm high and 47cms deep, the second 19cm high bringing you into the hallway which has tiled flooring. There is an occasional table in the hall. There is direct access from here to the ground floor WC, lounge and kitchen as well as the staircase to the upper floor.
GROUND FLOOR WC
Accessed from the hallway via a doorway 70cm wide into this tiled floor room. The WC is 42cm high and the basin is 76cm high with a mirror above..
DINING ROOM/KITCHEN
The dining Room/kitchen is located off the hallway and is accessed through a doorway 73cm wide opening into the dining room that has a short pile carpet. The table is 72 cms high with 66cms space beneath. There are eight chairs 43cms high. There is a 2 drawer sideboard with a TV and lamp above. The dining room/kitchen overlooks the gardens.The entrance to the kitchen is an archway 125cms wide. The floor is covered by lino and the units are 90cms high. There is an oven, hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave and combined washing machine/tumble dryer. There is a cupboard under the stairs for cleaning materials.
LOUNGE
The lounge can be accessed directly from the hallway via a doorway 71cm wide. The room has a short-pile carpet. There is one 3-seat sofa and two 2-seat sofas 41cms high and one armchairs 40cm high as well as a foot-stool 44cm high. There are four occasional tables, two lamps and one standard lamp. There is an open fire, colour TV, and a portable music system. There is a large mirror and a display cabinet on the wall. The room overlooks the gardens.
The stairway to the first floor is carpeted and there are 13 steps, 81cm wide, 24cm deep and 19cm high after four steps the staircase turns to the left bringing you onto a carpeted landing. The landing is lit by a velox light.
BATHROOM
Turning to the right at the top of the staircase the door to the bathroom is 71cms wide. The bathroom has a tiled floor and is lit by a velox light. The bath is 53cms high with shower above, the WC is 43 cms high and the basin 87cms high with mirror and shaver point above..
BEDROOMS
The cottage has – 1 twin and 1 double bedroom together with a single bedroom and a double bunk bedded room.
TWIN BEDROOM
Turning right out of the bathroom you access the twin bedroom via a doorway, 71cm wide, it has a short pile carpet. The beds are 52cm high and have a bedside unit and lamp between the beds. There is a built in wardrobe, 4-drawer unit with mirror above and 1 chair 43cm high. The bedroom looks onto the communal garden.
BUNK BEDROOM
Next to the twin bedroom is the Bunk bedroom accessed by a door 71cms wide. The bottom bunk is 45cms high and the top 120cms high. The two bunks are each 190cms long. There is a bedside table and lamp together with a 3-drawer unit and a built in wardrobe with a mirror on the wall. There is a chair 42cms high. The window overlooks the communal garden.
SINGLE BEDROOM
Next to the bunk bedroom is the single bedroom it is accessed through a door 71cms wide. The bed is 53cms high. There is a built in wardrobe, a three drawer unit with cupboard above. There is a mirror and lamp and a chair 42cms high. The window overlooks the lawned communal garden.
DOUBLE BEDROOM
The double bedroom is at the end of the landing accessed via a doorway, 72cms wide opening into the bedroom. The bed is 53cm high and has bedside units with lamps. There are two built-in wardrobes and a 4-drawer unit with mirror and a chair 44cms high. The window overlooks the car park.
SHOWER ROOM
Returning to the landing the tiled shower room is accessed through a doorway, 72cm wide on the right, opening into the shower room. There is a shower cubicle with a 17cm step into the cubicle through a doorway 57cm wide. The WC, 44cm high and basin 83cm high. There is a mirror above the basin. There is a shaver point on the wall opposite the basin. It is lit by a velox light.
OUTDOOR FACILITIES
There is a large, lawned, communal garden to the front of the cottage and there is a table with parasol and seats. Ellerbeck shares use of the Walled Garden with Saltersgate.
