Hungate Cottages North Yorkshire Moors Railways Station
Pickering Train Station, North Yorkshire Moors Railway

Some of our favourite local attractions have now reopened following a pause over the winter months. All fantastic for both the young, and the young at heart.

  • The North Yorkshire Moors Railway in Pickering – board a heritage steam or diesel train for a scenic 24 mile route which winds its way across the North York Moors all the way to Whitby on the coast. Hungate offers 1 free short journey per cottage on arrivals before 30 Sept, 2024. See our website for T&Cs and more details.
  • Beck Isle Museum in Pickering- this fascinating social history museum gives a glimpse into Ryedale life in days gone by featuring period business displays such as a barber, a chemist, a blacksmith (with demonstrations) and a Victorian-era pub. See welcome folder in your cottage for entry discount.
  • Ryedale Folk Museum in Hutton le Hole – a unique open-air museum featuring rescued and re-situated buildings, including shops, cottages, an Elizabethan manor house and a full scale reconstruction of an Iron Age roundhouse.
  • Eden Camp Museum near Malton – housed within the grounds of a former prisoner of war camp, this fascinating museum takes you back to war time Britain, with interactive displays, war time memorabilia and vehicles, and a children’s play area.
  • FlamingoLand Zoo & Theme Park a short drive from Pickering, this exhilarating day out is fun for the whole family with rides, rollercoasters, and an award winning zoo.
