Adventure for the family at Nunnington Hall

Adventures await this Easter in North Yorkshire!  As the days grow longer and spring begins to unfold, there are so many fun and inspiring ways to spend your time. From exploring historical homes, English Heritage sites, museums and gardens, to active days out on the Moors and Coast, the choices are endless.  It’s hard to narrow down the list, but here are three favourites, all dog friendly, with open spaces and seasonal activities for children to enjoy…

Nunnington Hall – this lesser known National Trust property has a relaxed feel, set in 5 acres of beautiful organic gardens set along the river Rye, with tea gardens and a small children’s adventure play area.
Rievaulx Abbey – these spectacular and atmospheric ruins once formed part of the most powerful Cistercian monasteries in England and are a must visit around Easter as the surrounding valley begins to bloom. English Heritage members benefit from free entry here.
Ryedale Folk Museum – a visit to this open air museum is a perfect way to step back in time this Easter while enjoying the fresh spring air. Set in the pretty moorland village of Hutton le Hole, this is a perfect relaxed family day out exploring over 20 historic buildings displaying the history of rural life over 4000 years.
