Exciting Family Friendly Ideas this Half Term

January 22, 2026
Castle Howard

With so much to choose from right on the doorstep, picking our top family-friendly days out for February half term is no easy task.

Eden Camp
Just a 10-minute drive away, this modern history museum offers a truly immersive experience, taking visitors on a journey back to wartime Britain. Set within a former WWII prisoner of war camp, Eden Camp brings history to life in an engaging and accessible way for all ages.

Castle Howard
This iconic stately home and its stunning gardens are a firm favourite of ours (and our guests!). A visit to Hungate really isn’t complete without a day spent here — wandering the beautiful, extensive grounds, stopping off at the adventure playground, and refuelling in the café are all must-dos.

National Railway Museum, York
Immerse yourself in over a century of railway history at this extensive museum, housed across multiple halls including the recently renovated Station Hall, which served as York’s main goods station until the 1960s. This February half term, families can enjoy Rebuild the Railway in Bricks — a special LEGO® exhibition with the opportunity to get creative and build your own railway-inspired designs.
